Tide Watch - Seagull guards the tidal flat in Fire Island on the south shore coast of Long Island This is a surreal image of a tidal pool taken in early morning of the Fire Island National Seashore beach. These beach profiles are created by storms that cause breaks in the sandbar and allow waves to travel through on to the beach. They create these miniature deltas when the ocean recedes. The single image hdr photo was processed in Photomatix Pro with contrast and color adjustments in Photoshop. .

This image was taken for the Fire Island Tide, a newspaper dedicated to life on the barrier island and published 8 times between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Davis Park is a community of 270 homes plus a 200 boat marina looked furthest to the east of all the hamlets. Each year they have a fourth of July parade sponsored by the Davis Park Association. The Davis Park Fire Department leads the parade which, due to the 6 ft wide boardwalks, excludes everything but small vehicles. Families and housemates decorate their wagons and wear costumes honoring current political themes and parade through the sister communities of Ocean Ridge and Davis Park. Prizes are given to those whose themes are judged best. Watch Hill nature walk has history in Ocean Beach community with spinnaker blue fish at footprints in dock marina.
